ProGuard Exteriors were contacted by the Parish Hall at The Lee in Great Missenden, where an uninsulated section of the building was making the space extremely cold and uncomfortable during use. Following a detailed assessment, and due to the large window area with minimal wall space, a hybrid insulation approach was specified to maximise thermal performance.
Overview
The Lee Parish Hall in Great Missenden had an uninsulated section of the building that was making the hall feel extremely cold when in use. Because the building had a large amount of window area and only minimal wall space, a standard single-system approach was not the best fit for the project.
Following a detailed assessment, ProGuard developed a hybrid specification designed to improve comfort and energy efficiency by combining loft insulation, internal thermal coating and external wall insulation in the most suitable areas.
Our Response
To maximise thermal performance across the hall, ProGuard topped up the loft insulation in the main hall with an additional 200mm of Knauf loft insulation, applied CorkSol thermal coating to the internal ceilings, and installed a 60mm Kingspan K5 external wall insulation system to all suitable external wall areas.
The external wall insulation system was finished with a high-performance silicone render in the client’s chosen colour, delivering both durability and an improved appearance. The entire project was fully managed by a dedicated ProGuard project manager, with internal and external works coordinated together during the half term period while the hall was not in use.
